 Fixed term opportunity for up to 30 June 2027, with the possibility for extension up to a maximum of 24 months and/or permanency.

The role

The Industry Regulation and Consumer Protection Legal Division (IRCP) provides advice and legal services to Departmental clients that is accurate, timely and solution focussed. Our internal clients include the Commissioner for Consumer Protection, Building Commissioner, Plumbers Licensing Board, Building Services Board and Director of Liquor Licensing, amongst others.

The Department assists the Minister for Commerce, Minister for Local Government and Minister for Racing and Gaming to administer a huge range of statutes.

As the General Manager, you will lead and manage the Legal Practice Support team and provide operational and project support to the General Counsel and management team.  This will include driving process, business and service improvements and efficiencies, providing strategic leadership, including policy and project development, liaising with both internal and external clients to ensure appropriate service delivery, as well as providing guidance, coaching and mentoring as required, amongst other key duties. Experience in practice management experience in a government or private legal practice environment, sound knowledge of procurement and financial management skills including budgeting and competent technical knowledge and skills in case management systems software, the Microsoft suite and Power BI applications would set you up for success in this role.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department and across the WA public sector for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

Eligibility

To be eligible for fixed term employment you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia or have a valid visa to live and work in Australia for the duration of the fixed term employment at the time of application.
