About the role

The State Solicitor's Office is seeking a proactive and highly organised Executive Legal Assistants to join our legal teams.

This recruitment process will establish a pool of suitable applicants for permanent and fixed-term opportunities. There is currently one permanent vacancy available for immediate filling within the Public and General Litigation (PGL) Section.

Suitable applicants may also be considered for future temporary opportunities across:

As an Executive Legal Assistant, you will provide high-level executive, administrative and legal support to senior lawyers within a busy and dynamic legal practice. You will play an important role in supporting the delivery of legal services by managing competing priorities, coordinating workflows and ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and professionally.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Providing executive and administrative support to senior lawyers, including diary management, correspondence, meetings and travel coordination.
  • Drafting, proofreading and formatting a range of legal and administrative documents to a high standard of accuracy and presentation.
  • Maintaining legal matter information and records within legal practice management and document management systems.
  • Supporting court and matter administration activities, including document preparation, filing and records management.
  • Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders while contributing to a collaborative and client-focused team environment.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Experience providing executive, administrative or business support in a busy and client-focused environment, with the ability to work proactively, manage competing priorities and maintain confidentiality.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Microsoft 365 applications, including the ability to prepare, proofread and format large and complex documents to a high standard.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and provide a professional service to a range of stakeholders.
  • A positive, adaptable and team-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality support services.
