We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant – Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Special Needs Education Assistants play a vital role in supporting students with disability and additional learning needs to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. Working under the direction of teachers and school leadership, you will assist in the delivery of planned education programs that promote student learning, wellbeing, independence, and engagement while contributing to a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Suitable applicants will assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour support strategies, and personalised learning adjustments. Responsibilities may include providing individual and small-group support, adapting learning resources, assisting with classroom routines and transitions, reinforcing learning concepts, and promoting positive behaviour and social development.

Suitable applicants may also be required to provide personal care and health-related support where necessary, ensuring student dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times. The role involves observing and recording student progress, providing feedback to teachers on educational programs, and contributing to collaborative planning and review processes.

We highly value applicant with strong interpersonal and organisational skills and who can work effectively as part of a professional team. Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience supporting students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties, including the ability to respond effectively to complex or challenging behaviours. Flexibility and a willingness to work across a variety of classrooms and learning environments will be highly regarded.

2. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
6. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
