We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Boola Bidi Primary School (PS) is a new public school opening in 2027, catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school will also include an Endorsed Education Support Program, providing a connected and inclusive learning environment for all students. The Role

We are seeking highly motivated Education Assistants - Special Needs to work collaboratively with our friendly and supportive team. As highly valued member of our school, suitable applicants should value the importance of establishing and developing positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and caregivers. Suitable applicants will ideally possess an openness to change, display initiative and be solutions-focused; always ensuring you are providing the best learning opportunities for our students.

Ideally, we are seeking applicant who can display the following:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively with teachers to develop and maintain engaging, challenging, and supportive learning environments.
• The capacity to assist in the delivery of planned educational programs under teacher direction.
• Experience implementing individual and small-group learning programs and activities.
• The ability to provide meaningful feedback to support student learning and progress.
• Knowledge of, or experience supporting, students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disability, physical disability, mental health needs, and behavioural challenges.
• A commitment to inclusive practices that promote positive educational outcomes for all students.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

Suitable applicants would work across classrooms and settings, so flexibility is highly regarded. They will ideally be an active team member within the Education Support Program and the Early Childhood and Primary program, promoting inclusion opportunities and supporting students in a variety of settings. Ideally, suitable applicants would support staff and therapists to ensure students achieve their individual education program objectives. Applicants with skills in working with students using Positive Behaviour Support Strategies and Alternative and Augmentative Communication will be highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
  • Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
