We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally have the knowledge and experience to work with students with one or more of the following:

• A diagnosis of Autism and/or Intellectual disabilities.
• Complex communication needs using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) supports.
• Complex behavioural presentations.
• Students with anxiety and difficulties with sensory processing.

It would be highly desirable for the suitable applicants to possess a skill set that includes knowledge of Alternative Augmentative Communication, individual visual supports systems, Positive Behaviour Support, self-regulation strategies.

Our Education Assistant (EA) staff are diverse and consists of graduate to Advanced EAs. We focus on developing our staff by providing comprehensive support to build the skills and capacity. Applications from certificate IV graduate EAs through to Advanced EAs are encouraged to apply.

Suitable applicants will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal skills and be student focused. These skills should be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. Suitable applicants should be compassionate and able to work collaboratively to implement documented plans.

Suitable applicants should possess the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students and teachers.

  • Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
