Kelmscott Primary School is seeking a motivated and skilled Mainstream Education Assistant to join our team for Term 4, 2026, with a specific focus on early literacy intervention for our Year 1 and 2 students.

The Role

The primary focus of this role will be the delivery of MiniLit, a structured small-group literacy intervention program, to identified Year 1 and 2 students.

Working under the direction of our Small Group Tuition Leader, you will work with small groups of students requiring additional support in early reading. You will deliver planned intervention sessions consistently, support the monitoring of student progress and work collaboratively with teachers and the Small Group Tuition team to ensure intervention is responsive to student need.

You will ideally:

• deliver MiniLit and other planned literacy intervention with consistency and fidelity
• support the development of foundational reading skills including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding and reading fluency
• establish positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations for learning and engagement
• support the collection and recording of information about student learning and progress
• communicate effectively with teachers, Education Assistants and school leaders
• be organised, reliable and able to work with a high degree of initiative under teacher direction
• contribute positively to a collaborative team focused on improving student outcomes.

Experience delivering MiniLit, MultiLit or another structured literacy intervention program would be highly regarded. Applicants who have strong early literacy knowledge and are willing to learn are also encouraged to apply.

While literacy intervention will be the primary focus of this position, the successful applicant may also provide broader support to students and teaching programs as required.
