The WAEC

The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) is entrusted with safeguarding one of the State's most important public assets: trust in democracy. We deliver impartial, independent and secure elections and referenda, maintain the electoral roll, regulate aspects of the electoral framework and lead civic education and community engagement.

Technology plays a critical role in delivering secure, reliable and trusted electoral services. As we continue modernising our technology environment and strengthening organisational capability, we are seeking an experienced Digital Service Delivery Coordinator to lead our Service Desk function and support the delivery of customer-focused ICT services across the Commission.

At WAEC, we are guided by our values of Make it Count, Check Every Box, Focus on Fairness and Achieve Together and are committed to building an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing workplace.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a suitable experienced person to fill the temporary full-time position (75 hours per fortnight) for up to twelve months with the possibility of extension and or permanency.

As the Digital Service Delivery Coordinator, you will coordinate the delivery of digital and information technology services across the Commission and lead the day-to-day operation of the Service Desk. You will ensure staff receive reliable, secure and responsive technology support while developing team capability and driving continuous service improvement.

Reporting to the Director Technology and Digital Services, you will:

  • Coordinate Service Desk operations, ensuring incidents and service requests are prioritised and resolved effectively.
  • Lead, coach and develop Service Desk staff to deliver high-quality customer service outcomes.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex ICT support issues.
  • Coordinate ICT asset lifecycle activities including procurement, deployment, maintenance and replacement.
  • Monitor service performance, workloads and operational metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
  • Maintain knowledge management, operational documentation and support resources.
  • Support technology projects, service improvements and election readiness activities.
  • Ensure service delivery activities align with change management, security and governance requirements.

This role offers the opportunity to combine people leadership, operational coordination and ICT service management in an organisation where technology plays a critical role in supporting democratic processes.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other “similar” vacancies that become available at the Commission. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.

About You

You are a customer-focused ICT professional with experience leading teams and coordinating technology services in a corporate or government environment. You enjoy solving problems, building capability in others and improving services through collaboration and innovation.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating ICT service delivery functions, including Service Desk operations and customer-focused technology services.
  • Experience leading or supervising staff, including workload management, coaching, capability development and performance support.
  • Sound knowledge of ICT service management practices, including incident, change, access and asset management.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Experience building productive relationships with business stakeholders, vendors and service providers.

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualifications in information technology, business information systems or a related field.
  • Industry certifications, or progress towards them, such as ITIL, Microsoft technologies, cybersecurity or service management qualifications.

As Part of Your Application

You will be asked to provide a response of no more than 300 words to the following question:

Describe a time when you led a team or coordinated an ICT service under pressure while balancing competing priorities and customer expectations. What approach did you take, how did you support your team and stakeholders, and what was the outcome?
