East Kimberley College is one of the largest Kindergarten to Year 12 schools in the State with approximately 1100 students enrolled. With almost 52% of enrolments being indigenous, it also has the largest enrolment of Aboriginal students of any school in the State.

The Role

The Deputy Principal Secondary - Student Services provides educational leadership across the school by supporting the Associate Principal - Secondary and leadership team to promote student attendance, engagement, wellbeing and positive behaviour. The successful applicant will ideally have a strong understanding of secondary student services and display experience leading strategies that improve student participation, engagement and educational outcomes.

The Deputy Principal Secondary - Student Services will oversee secondary attendance and behaviour processes, including attendance monitoring, participation referrals, Section 24 processes, suspensions, student re-entry and student case management. The successful applicant will ideally have strong data literacy and the ability to analyse attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and engagement data to identify students requiring targeted intervention and support.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience in student support and intervention planning, including Children-in-Care planning, individual behaviour and engagement planning, case management and coordination of targeted student services. Knowledge of secondary student systems and processes would be highly regarded.

The Deputy Principal Secondary - Student Services will provide leadership in Teaching, Learning and Assessment by supporting staff to implement strategies that improve student engagement and participation. Experience leading collaborative teams and using data to inform planning, intervention and improvement would be advantageous.

The role includes line management and staff leadership, including the supervision of School-Based Attendance Officers and Attendance and Engagement Officers, staff induction, performance management, professional learning and coordination of staffing requirements. The successful applicant will ideally display the capacity to support staff in implementing consistent and effective attendance, wellbeing and behaviour processes.

Strong community and interagency partnerships will be an important component of the role. Experience liaising with school-based services, SALS, SPS/CAMHS and external agencies, coordinating referrals and supporting vulnerable students and families would be highly regarded.

The successful applicant should display a strong commitment to student wellbeing, engagement and inclusion, with the capacity to work collaboratively with staff, students, families and external agencies to coordinate effective support and improve outcomes for students.
