Mount Lawley Primary School (PS) is a vibrant and proudly community-focused Independent Public School located just four kilometres from the Perth CBD. With a strong sense of history and place, our school combines the character of our heritage with contemporary facilities, innovative learning programs and a forward-thinking approach to education. With approximately 500 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, we are a diverse and inclusive community where every child is known, valued and encouraged to strive for wisdom.

At Mount Lawley PS, students are at the centre of every decision we make. We work collaboratively to deliver high-quality teaching, guided by evidence-informed and data-driven practice and strengthened through respectful relationships and partnerships that foster a strong sense of belonging. Together, we create a caring and inclusive community where high expectations empower every child to learn, respect, inspire, create and celebrate.

We are entering an exciting new phase of our school’s development, with a new Business Plan commencing in Term 4. Our focus is on understanding every student’s learning needs, strengthening the quality and consistency of teaching, and using evidence and data to maximise student progress and achievement. We are committed to supporting our staff to grow as professionals and people, building leadership capability and strengthening a culture where wellbeing, inclusion, student voice and belonging are valued. We will continue to deepen partnerships with families and community and authentically embed Aboriginal culture and perspectives across our school.

Our leadership culture is visible, approachable and collaborative, with a strong focus on building capability, strengthening professional practice and leading improvement with purpose. We value leaders who are connected to classrooms, students, staff and families, who use evidence and reflection to guide their decisions, and who bring warmth, authenticity and high expectations to their work.

As we begin this next chapter, we are seeking leaders who share our belief in the potential of every child and who are excited by the opportunity to contribute to a school with a clear vision, strong foundations and an ambitious future. At Mount Lawley PS, success is reflected in the growth, wellbeing and achievement of our students, the quality of our teaching, the strength of our culture and the impact of our leadership.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the leadership team at Mount Lawley PS and contribute to the next phase of our school’s development. Through this pool, we are ideally seeking Deputy Principals who can translate our vision and strategic priorities into high-quality teaching, strong student outcomes and a positive, inclusive school culture.

We are looking for leaders who are visible, approachable and committed to being connected to the day-to-day life of the school. You would bring a strong focus on teaching and learning, using evidence, assessment and data to understand student needs, strengthen practice and support every student to make meaningful progress. We value leadership experience and expertise across all stages of primary education, including Early Childhood, and welcome leaders with a strong understanding of the unique learning and developmental needs of our youngest students. You would work alongside staff to build capability, encourage professional growth and create the conditions for high-quality practice to flourish.

As part of our leadership team, you will have the opportunity to shape and lead priorities within our new Business Plan. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with staff and the wider school community to build shared understanding, commitment and momentum for improvement.

We are seeking leaders who bring strong educational leadership, authenticity, relational strength and strategic thinking; leaders who can build trust, develop others and lead sustainable improvement.
