Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, with a student population in excess of 2700, approximately 230 teaching staff and 145 support staff on campus. The Role
In collaboration with the Principal and the Executive team, the successful applicant will provide high-level strategic leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school’s vision, Business Plan and strategic directions across the school community.
The successful applicant will play a significant role in leading and supporting whole-school improvement, with a strong focus on high-quality teaching and learning, student achievement, curriculum and pathways, professional practice and the development of staff and teams. The specific portfolio responsibilities of the position will be determined according to the skills, experience and strengths of the successful applicant and the needs of the school.
The successful applicant will ideally be an accomplished and highly collaborative educational leader who can use evidence to identify priorities, lead improvement and evaluate impact. They should exhibit the capacity to lead change, develop innovative and responsive approaches, and work effectively across learning areas and leadership teams to support improved outcomes for students.
A key aspect of the role will be the ability to coach, mentor and develop colleagues, build the capability of leaders and teaching teams, and foster a culture of collaboration, professional learning and continuous improvement. The successful applicant should be able to build productive relationships with staff, students, families and the wider community to enhance student engagement, learning, achievement and successful educational pathways.
As a Deputy Principal at Willetton SHS, the successful applicant should contribute broadly to whole-school leadership and improvement. They will ideally exercise sound strategic judgement, manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with the Executive team and other school leaders to translate strategic priorities into effective practice.
Knowledge and recent experience in one or more areas of curriculum leadership, student achievement and pathways, quality teaching, instructional leadership, professional learning, coaching, data-informed improvement or leading significant educational change would be highly regarded.
