The Role
Lynwood SHS is seeking an experienced, innovative and highly motivated Deputy Principal - Intensive English Centre (IEC) to provide outstanding educational leadership within the IEC and contribute strategically to the leadership of the wider school.
The successful applicant will ideally display a strong understanding of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) pedagogy, second language acquisition theory, the EAL/D Progress Maps, and the Western Australian Curriculum. They will ideally possess the capacity to lead, coach and mentor staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs that support the academic achievement, wellbeing, engagement and successful transition of students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Working closely with the Principal and Executive Team, the Deputy Principal - IEC will provide visible and collaborative leadership that promotes the school's values, strategic priorities and commitment to excellence for every student.
The successful applicant will ideally foster strong partnerships with students, families, community members and external agencies, ensuring culturally responsive practices are embedded across the school.
As leader of the Intensive English Centre, the successful applicant should be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of programs that support newly arrived students and students learning English as an additional language. They will ideally use student achievement and engagement data to drive improvement, monitor progress, identify emerging needs and implement targeted interventions that improve outcomes for EAL/D learners.
The role extends beyond the IEC and includes significant whole-school leadership responsibilities. The successful applicant will ideally contribute to school improvement planning, curriculum leadership, staff performance and development, graduate teacher support, workforce capability building and the implementation of whole-school priorities. They will ideally display the ability to lead change effectively, build leadership capacity in others and foster a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement.
