North Kalgoorlie Primary School (PS) is located in suburb of Lamington. The school first opened in 1902 and boasts a solid reputation for providing a quality education in a settled and focussed environment. This standard is expected by our actively involved school community.
The school has a number of programs and initiatives that support the very broad range of academic abilities. Students at North Kalgoorlie PS are from varied backgrounds. Some are fourth generation Kalgoorlie-born families and some are families involved in the mining industry who move location regularly. Others are from various Aboriginal groups around the state and country, while an increasing number come from cultural groups with English as an Additional Language.

The Role
The Deputy Principal assumes a pivotal role, working closely with the Principal and the administrative team to help shape and promote the school’s vision and values. A high level of organisational skills, ability to problem solve, and utilise school resources to meet the daily needs of the school, as well as long term goals, is essential for success in this role. This position will have a broad range of responsibilities, including building the capacity of individual staff and supporting the leadership development of curriculum and phase of learning leaders. The Deputy Principal will also lead the ‘Students at Educational Risk’ portfolio. They will directly line manage middle and upper primary teachers and Special Needs Education Assistants.
The successful applicant will have responsibilities with curriculum leadership, analysing data to lead school improvement, student services, classroom management and sustaining effective communication and relationships with the whole school community. North Kalgoorlie PS is implementing and refining whole school methodologies in explicit teaching and learning to ensure that teaching continues to be of a high standard. A high level of competency in WA curriculum and excellent change management practices will support this. Knowledge of restorative practices and the drive to implement these is highly regarded.
