The WWC Screening Unit manages Working with Children (WWC) Checks for Western Australia and the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands for people who engage in certain paid or unpaid work with children, described as “child-related work” under the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004. The unit aims to safeguard children through the ongoing collection and assessment of information that is relevant to whether a child may be exposed to a risk of harm if an individual is engaged in child-related work.

Your Role. Your Impact.
As part of the WWC Screening Unit management team, the Compliance and Investigations Manager:
- Provides strategic leadership and management on all aspects of the compliance function, including planning, strategic audit and investigation programs, managing a team of Compliance Officers, conducting compliance investigations and audits and the subsequent reporting and actions, and managing the compliance budget.
- Plans, develops, implements and reviews policies and procedures that form the compliance framework for the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004.
- Develop strategic relationships with law enforcement and other compliance bodies.
- Promotes compliance with employers and other key stakeholders in the community.
- Manages or prepares prosecution briefs and Witness Statements, and where appropriate, instructs the State Solicitor’s Office with respect to prosecutions in the Magistrate’s Court for breaches of the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004.
