Your Role. Your Impact.

Step into the world of Statewide Services Business Support, where your work is more than just a job.

The Community Youth Support Worker plays a vital role in improving outcomes for at-risk children, young people and their families by delivering targeted early intervention, engagement and support services that enhance safety, wellbeing and social inclusion.

Working within the Target 120 program and the Target 120 CaLD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) Youth Engagement Pilot, the position supports young people who are at risk of contact with the justice system through culturally responsive, strengths-based and family-centred approaches. The role works collaboratively with young people, families, communities and service providers to address complex needs, reduce risk factors associated with offending behaviour, and strengthen connections to education, community and support services.

The Community Youth Support Worker is responsible for:

  • Identifying, engaging and building positive, trusting relationships with at-risk children, young people and their families to improve safety, wellbeing and long-term outcomes.
  • Providing practical support, guidance and advice to assist children, young people and families to address challenges and access appropriate services and resources.
  • Supporting Community Youth Officers in the delivery of case management and intervention activities for young people and families engaged with the Department.
  • Working collaboratively with families and key stakeholders to promote stability, routine and positive family functioning within the home environment.
  • Facilitating access to culturally appropriate services and supports that respond to the unique needs of young people and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, particularly those of African descent.
  • Building effective partnerships with community organisations, schools, government agencies and service providers to coordinate support and strengthen protective factors for vulnerable young people.
  • Contributing to the delivery of early intervention initiatives that reduce the likelihood of offending behaviour and support positive engagement with family, education, employment and community networks.

This role requires a compassionate and proactive approach, strong relationship-building skills, and a commitment to empowering young people and families to achieve positive and sustainable change.
