This is a full-time position, 0.4 part-time permanency available, plus 0.6 part time parental leave cover until 1 August 2027, with possibility of extension and/or permanency.

The HiTH OT role is a PCH based role working both in the home environment and in clinic at PCH. This role requires collaboration and communication across multiple medical teams and a commitment to delivering high-quality care in the community.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Senior Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary Hospital in the Home (HiTH) service and provide assessment and intervention for children aged 2-17 years with a diverse range of conditions.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a new service that enables patients and their families to transition smoothly from hospital care to home and delivers acute care services directly in the home environment.
Our HiTh OT team receive referrals from 4 key areas, including:
1. Procedural distress – approx. 60% of referrals (working within Keeping Kids in No Distress (KKIND) model)
- Assessment, intervention and procedural support for children who are experiencing anxiety and distress related to illness, injury and related medical interventions;
- Assist in minimising distress and trauma through supporting co-regulation, comfort and compassionate care;
- Experience in Positive Behaviour Support and working with children with neurodiversity would be highly relevant.
2. Cognitive assessment to support discharge, including Post Traumatic Amnesia (PTA) assessment – approx. 15% of referrals
3. Physical rehabilitation including equipment provision, transfers and ADL retraining to support safe and timely discharge from orthopaedic, medical, surgical, and oncology wards. – approx. 15% of referrals
4. Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) transition to home pathway – approx. 10% of referrals
- Transition pathway for patients with confirmed FND diagnoses, supporting shift out of hospital back to the home, implementing established treatment plans
- Facilitating occupational engagement (eg return to school and home routines) whilst maintaining acute inpatient level of care
As a Senior OT within our Department, your responsibilities will include:
- Participating in regular supervision, evaluation of clinical practice, and ongoing professional development.
- Participating in the development, planning, and evaluation of services, including ongoing evaluation of clinical practice and standards.
- Supporting the delivery of safe patient care, ensuring services are family-centred and contributing to continuous quality improvement activities.
- Providing consultancy, contributing to service development, and upholding the highest standards of professional development and clinical governance.

About HiTH
Hospital in the Home (HiTH) provides eligible patients with the ability to receive acute inpatient care in the comfort of their own home, away from a hospital setting. The service offers a multidisciplinary team of health professionals who support a patient’s treatment requirements.
HiTH supports timely discharge from Perth Children’s Hospital allowing children and families to recover in familiar surroundings while still being under expert medical care. HiTH patients are regarded as hospital patients and will receive daily high-quality hospital-comparable care and monitoring at home, until they are discharged.
