About Our Team:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

CAMHS Crisis Connect (CCC) provides a single point of contact for children in community settings across State-wide Western Australia (including metropolitan emergency departments) who require urgent mental health support, brief intervention and/or assessment. 

Support is offered in a variety of different mediums including mental health assessments in PCH emergency department, tele-health assessments for young people in external ED’s in addition to a 24/7 crisis line accessible to all young people, their families and carers in addition to professionals such as teachers, GPs and school psychologists seeking expert advice. 

About the Role:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will lead and enable nursing staff to provide comprehensive and evidence-based nursing care to patients. You will use your problem-solving, and therapeutic skills to influence, manage, and co-ordinate patient care, as well as provide clinical leadership and consultancy to other health professionals in the broader multidisciplinary team. You will lead quality improvement and risk management initiatives and contribute to standards and policies.

What you will bring:

  • Preferably 5 or more years of experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, applicants with differing work and lived experience may also be considered
  • Specialist nursing experience relevant to the service area of preference (e.g. Community based services, Acute Inpatient, Outpatient Day Program)
  • Experience working with children and adolescents is also preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, and able to provide specialised knowledge as an education resource to patients, families and other health professionals.
  • Advanced problem-solving and therapeutic skills that influence, manage and co-ordinate patient care.

    • Must be available to work at Perth Children's Hospital.
    • Must be available to work a 24-hour rotating roster, Monday to Sunday.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants found suitable for this position may be considered for other ‘similar’ vacancies within CAHS and/or the wider WA public sector. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision. These can be permanent full time, permanent part time or fixed term full time, fixed term part time opportunities with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
