Position Profile and Role

Fiona Stanley Hospital Mental Health is looking for an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) with a strong background in youth mental health to join our team.

This is a fixed-term 12-month, full-time vacancy to cover a period of parental leave. Fixed-term appointments include the future possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

The CNC provides expert clinical consultancy within the specialised field of youth mental health. In this role, you will develop standards of practice, implement evidence-based changes to clinical practice, educate staff, and drive research and quality improvement activities. You will provide clinical leadership across hospital services and external sites, working collaboratively to improve the quality of patient care and promote desired outcomes within the Youth Community Assessment and Treatment Team (YCATT).

As a senior nurse, you will be professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery via the Nurse Director for Mental Health and provide mentorship and role modelling for nursing staff. In doing so, you will actively advance the nursing profession in alignment with the vision and values for Fiona Stanley Nursing.

Across Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Mental Health (FSFH Mental Health) and Peel and Rockingham Kwinana Mental Health (PaRK Mental Health), specialist services are provided across the South Metropolitan region, supporting consumers with accessible, collaborative and high-quality mental health care.   SMHS Mental Health will soon open a new state-of-the-art facility at Fremantle Hospital designed to offer expanded and modern mental health services for our community. The three-storey space will provide an additional 40 mental health beds and a 24-hour Mental Health Crisis Centre, ensuring compassionate and innovative care for those who need it most.
