About the Opportunity:

We are currently seeking dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to appoint to Clerical Support Officer roles with the Midland Community Mental Health Service. We currently have a Permanent Full-Time and a Fixed-Term Full-Time position available. The Fixed-Term position has the possibility of extension and/or permanency. 

In this role, the successful applicants will provide clerical and administration support, electronic appointment management, and frontline reception duties within the Midland Community Mental Health Centre (MCMHC) in addition to providing an efficient and effective medical records retrieval and maintenance service, focussing on quality customer service. Other key duties include, but are not limited to;

  • Carries out full range of administrative duties, including reception, word processing,  data entry, mail collection and delivery, and maintenance of filing systems including archiving, and maintain presentation standards in consumer waiting area.
  • Screens telephone calls and initiate appropriate action in a timely manner.
  • Promptly receive and attend to consumers/contractors/visitors at reception desk, notifying clinicians of arrival, following processes of reception duties and maintaining customer service standards.
  • Participates in the maintenance of a safe work environment.

Suitability Criteria:

  • Knowledge & experience in switchboard and reception duties.
  • Knowledge of health applications i.e. webPAS, PSOLIS and DMR.
  • Ability to work and collaborate closely with colleagues.
  • High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with staff and consumers
  • Be available full-time, Monday-Friday.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants found suitable for this position may be considered for other ‘similar’ vacancies within EMHS and/or the wider WA public sector. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision. 

About the Midland Community Mental Health Service:

The Midland Community Mental Health service provides specialist clinical mental health services to individuals aged 18-65.

The specialists treat those:

  • Who are not responding well to treatment for mental illness in a primary care setting (e.g. General Practitioners)
  • With severe and complex mental health issues/illness
  • Have a significant level of disturbance and psychosocial disability due to their illness that has a significant impact on their functioning
  • Significant functional difficulties that require coordination of care and support across multiple agencies, family, friends, support people, carers and providers
  • Would benefit from a multi-disciplinary team due to the intensive or complex nature of care required.
