The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is seeking a Chief Medical Photographer with extensive expertise across clinical, scientific, illustrative and digital photography to lead the Medical Illustration service at Perth Children’s Hospital.

This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished photography and media professional to combine technical expertise, creative capability and leadership skills in a specialist healthcare environment.

As the Chief Medical Photographer, you will lead the delivery and ongoing development of a comprehensive Medical Illustration service that supports clinical care, education, research, communication and innovation across the organisation. With a broad range of specialist services, including:

  • Clinical and general photography
  • Medical and scientific illustration
  • Clinical, educational and media video production
  • Digital image processing and publication-ready imagery
  • Web-based and digital audiovisual resources
  • Image cataloguing, archiving and database management.

Working closely with clinicians, researchers and multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, responsive and contemporary services that meet the diverse needs of Perth Children’s Hospital.

If you have an Advanced Diploma in Photography or an equivalent media qualification together with extensive experience in professional hospital-based clinical photography, we encourage you to apply.

Previous experience in paediatric clinical photography will be highly regarded.

How to apply: We welcome your application via the ‘Apply for Job’ button at the bottom of this page. Your application should contain the following:

  • A statement addressing selection criteria as per the Job Description Form in 2 – 3 pages maximum.
  • A copy of your current CV outlining your most recent and relevant work experience.
  • Evidence of Advanced Diploma in Photography or an equivalent media qualification
  • The name, email and contact details of two referees who can be contacted to provide a confidential report (we will contact you and seek your confirmation prior to contacting your listed referees).

Within the application system you will be presented with the following two questions. Please review the Essential and Desirable Selection Criteria outlined in the attached Job Description Form carefully when preparing your response.  Each question allows you to showcase your relevant skills and experiences in detail, with a generous word limit of 500 words for each response.

Application question: Describe your prior experience in hospital-based clinical photography, specifically

  1. How have you ensured compliance with requirements relating to patient/client consent, privacy, confidentiality, copyright and image management?
  2. How have you identified and implemented opportunities to improve services, technologies or work practices?

This response will be assessed against essential criteria 2, and 3.

These documents should be complete and ready to attach prior to applying online. Please ensure you allow sufficient time to complete the online application process as you will be required to answer various questions and attach your documentation.

Selection Criteria: Please see the attached Job Description Form.

In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
