We are seeking Enrolled Nurses with recent relevant clinical experience in their specialty area. Please note that for some specialty areas, recent and substantial experience in that specific field is essential. This ensures nurses have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to safely deliver care in accordance with the clinical requirements, procedures, and patient care standards unique to that area.

Experience Requirements

Same Day Unit and Preadmission Clinic – Previous hospital experience is desirable, with experience in a surgical setting highly regarded. Enrolled Nurses with a minimum classification of EN Level 1 are preferred; however, graduate nurses may be considered. Candidates should be reliable, proactive, willing to learn, and able to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Community Rehab - Previous medical nursing experience is desirable, with experience in rehabilitation or community-based care highly regarded. Enrolled Nurses with a minimum classification of EN Level 1 are preferred; however, graduate nurses may be considered. Candidates should be reliable, proactive, willing to learn, and able to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Kalamunda Anderton Palliative Care Ward – Minimum 6 months' recent hospital experience is preferred, with an interest in palliative care. Strong communication skills, compassion, and a commitment to person-centred care are essential.

Emergency Department – 12 months acute ward-based experience but will consider rehab/geriatrics. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with strong communication, organisational, and patient assessment skills.

Rehabilitation Ward – 6 months post grad experience with a passion for being involved in patient rehabilitation. Strong communication, patient assessment, and multidisciplinary team collaboration skills are essential.

Medical Admissions Ward - Minimum 6 months' recent hospital experience in an acute clinical setting is preferred. Strong communication, organisational, and patient assessment skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, are essential.

Colyer Surgical Ward – Minimum 6 months surgical experience preferred. Strong clinical assessment, communication, and time management skills are essential.

Paediatrics Services – Minimum 6 months' recent hospital experience is desirable, with an interest in paediatric nursing. Strong communication skills, compassion, and a commitment to family-centred care are essential.

Medical Assessment Unit – Minimum 6 months' recent hospital experience in an acute clinical setting is preferred. Strong communication, organisational, and patient assessment skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, are essential.

EMHS is entering an exciting period of growth, following the completion of the WA Government's purchase of St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital. The acquisition adds up to 100 public beds and eight operating theatres to the public health system, enhancing capacity across the East Metropolitan region while supporting improved patient flow, expanded services and better access to care.

  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications throughout this timeframe and will assess on a regular basis.
  • Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool, and appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur within any EMHS facility.
  • Appointments may be made from this pool until 31st March 2027.
