Drive Change, Connect Communities

Working for the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) allows you to play a part in connecting the people of Western Australia. We are a progressive organisation.  We are leaders in providing safe, accessible, sustainable, and efficient transport services and solutions that promote economic prosperity and enhance the lifestyles of all Western Australians.

The Opportunity

Join us in leading a high-performing team responsible for access management services across the Department.

As the Access Team Leader, you will coordinate and supervise the day-to-day activities of a specialist team responsible for managing system access, roles and privileges across key business systems. You will ensure access management services are delivered efficiently, securely and in line with business requirements, while providing expert advice on access controls, governance and business continuity.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, government agencies and external partners, you will play a key role in maintaining access frameworks, resolving access-related issues and ensuring appropriate levels of system access are assigned and monitored. You will also contribute to policy development, lead projects and continuous improvement initiatives, and support the ongoing enhancement of access management processes and controls.

This role offers an opportunity to combine people leadership, stakeholder engagement and project management skills to drive secure and effective access management outcomes across a complex operational environment.

For further information about the role, we encourage you to review the attached Job Description Form (JDF) and contact Arvin Raj, Manager Identity Solutions on 0400 008 629 or via email at Aravindh.Rajagopalan@transport.wa.gov.au.

There is currently one permanent position available for immediate filling.

The successful applicant or applicants assessed as suitable through this process may receive further offers of employment (fixed term or permanent) in this or similar roles for a period of twelve (12) months from date of first appointment.

About you

  • A passion for leading and developing people, creating a positive team culture that encourages collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing access, governance or compliance-related functions, with a strong understanding of how effective access controls support secure and efficient business operations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence outcomes and work collaboratively with a broad range of customers, colleagues and partners.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities, enabling you to effectively manage competing priorities, coordinate workflows and consistently deliver results.
  • A curious and analytical mindset, with the ability to investigate complex issues, identify practical solutions and drive meaningful improvements.

To be successful in this role, you will be assessed against these suitability requirements:

  • The essential criteria outlined in the attached JDF 00027483; and
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of the Transport Executive Licensing Information System (TRELIS) or licensing systems.

As part of our team, you will enjoy

  • Generous leave entitlements including 4 weeks’ annual leave, 3 public service holidays yearly and long service leave every 7 years.
  • Access to flexible working arrangements including working from home or alternate work location for enhanced work life balance.
  • Not just a job, but an opportunity to develop your career across other areas of transport.
  • Work for an innovative Government agency with limitless long-term career prospects.
