This is a Casual, Permanent or Fixed Term appointment, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency, at various hours.

Pursuant of Section 50 (d) and Section 27 (2) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, the occupant of this position must be of Aboriginal descent and Female. 

Position Profile: In consultation with the Clinical Midwife Specialist-Endorsed Midwife, this position liaises with healthcare professionals and provides cultural advice, guidance, advocacy and delegated assistance, care and support to Aboriginal families accessing the Avon Valley (Northam) Midwifery Group Practice.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Aboriginal families, multidisciplinary healthcare teams, community organisations and external stakeholders to support coordinated, respectful and culturally responsive service delivery.          

  1. Advocacy, welfare support and service navigation

Demonstrated ability to identify and respond to the cultural, social and welfare needs of Aboriginal families, providing advocacy, practical support and service navigation that enables access to appropriate health and community services throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenting.

4. Independent community-based service delivery, administration and operational requirements        

Demonstrated ability to work independently in a community-based environment, effectively managing documentation, reporting, competing priorities and travel requirements while maintaining professional standards and organisational compliance.
