The Aboriginal Teaching and Learning Directorate is seeking to recruit a collaborative, motivated and committed culturally responsive Senior Consultant who is committed to equity, anti-racism and systems thinking.
The Senior Consultant supports the work of the Directorate to strengthen culturally responsive practices across the agency. You will assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies, initiatives and approaches that strengthen the cultural safety, wellbeing and engagement of Aboriginal students. This includes contributing to system strategy and whole-of-government priorities that support and strengthen outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people.
The successful applicant will have experience in a policy or project role with a demonstrated ability to think strategically, understand whole-of-government strategic drivers and apply these in your role. Applicants should have well developed written communication skills and experience in the preparation of complex advice to senior management.
In this role, you will provide advice and guidance to schools and Department staff to support the provision of culturally responsive approaches, including strengthened engagement with Aboriginal families, communities and organisations.
The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment and experience working with Aboriginal stakeholders.
The Aboriginal Teaching and Learning Directorate leads, influences and supports cultural responsiveness across the organisation. We support effective leadership and teaching to create culturally responsive schools that create the conditions for Aboriginal students and families to experience cultural safety. This includes developing and informing policy, resources and professional learning and influencing system strategy and whole-of-government initiatives and priorities that support and strengthen the cultural safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people. The objective is to ensure that the research, design, delivery and evaluation of policies, programs and services are informed by national and state government priorities including the Aboriginal Empowerment Strategy and the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.
