The position

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) is looking for an experienced UI/UX designer to join our Solutions and Architecture Branch. This position contributes to building DMIRS into a high-performance innovative organisation by focusing on building strategic and innovative web UI designs, enhancing the user experience, user interaction, user interface and design for the Department's information systems.

In this role, you will support the Manager Solutions in leading and managing a team of UI, UX and web developers that provide UI/UX solutions for online and web based systems. You will liaise with business areas to undertake user needs analysis and understand product, website and digital creative specifications. You will also possess well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders.

This position is located in East Perth (however, may be required to work at other sites as required).

What do you require to successfully undertake the role?

  • Demonstrated experience in translating business/system requirements, design ideas, user behaviour and research into concepts using techniques such as wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, interaction flows and storyboards.
  • Demonstrated good knowledge and experience in User Interface Design (UI), User Experience Design (UX) and graphic manipulation software for a large organisation using contemporary industry standard tools.
  • Good knowledge in online web application development, including front-end HTML5 development, CSS, Angular, Bootstrap and responsive web design.
