This is a permanent part-time (0.3FTE) position commencing October 2026
Esperance is located about 700 km from Perth on Western Australia’s glistening south-east coast. Esperance’s natural beauty, climate and lifestyle attracts a vibrant local community.
Esperance Residential College provides a safe and comfortable home away from home for rural and remote secondary students in Western Australia, giving them a supportive environment to reach their potential. Situated within the Esperance Community Education Campus, the college works with Esperance Senior High School, Esperance Education Support Centre and South Regional TAFE to provide for the education needs of students in Esperance.
Esperance Residential College is in the heart of the Esperance town site. The college has a strong relationship with the Esperance community as a trusted local organisation. The thriving coastal town offers a complete range of services for comfortable living, such as shopping, social and recreational facilities.
The Role
The successful applicant will ensure high levels of quality control, storage and hygiene are maintained in accordance with occupational safety and health standards and requirements.
They will provide meals of a high standard, manage day-to-day catering requirements of the college and external groups and cater for special occasions and functions as required. This involves:
- preparation
- cooking
- catering for special dietary requirements
- stock control
- purchasing goods
They will be expected to work effectively with other cook/s and kitchen hand/s.

- Demonstrated ability to carry out the duties of a cook, for 50 to 110 students, to a high standard, including catering for special dietary requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and control stock and uphold health and safety standards in relation to food and kitchen hygiene.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills with the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to youth.
- Demonstrated flexibility in response to changing work needs.
