We provide a broad and balanced curriculum for our students, with system testing results being consistently high. The Role

Burrendah PS is seeking a contemporary and engaging K-6 Science Teacher to join our teaching team. As a member of our team, you will ideally be a conscientious, flexible and innovative teacher who is committed to being actively involved within the school and wider community, highly reflective in your teaching practices and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation. You should be willing and able to take on additional roles and extra-curricular programs to provide extension options to our highly engaged and high potential learners.

To be successful for this position, the successful applicant should be able to display the ability to deliver a hands-on, inquiry-based program that is closely aligned with the Western Australian Science Curriculum (Years 1-6). Their teaching program should have a strong focus on Science Inquiry Skills - students plan and conduct fair tests, collect data, and communicate their findings using scientific language.

The role involves coordinating Science Week as a whole-school celebration, leading our Lego League, Solar Car and RAC Challenge Teams, fostering curiosity, creativity, and community engagement. The position offers opportunities to build on existing and create new sustainability and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives that have been developed in previous years. Collaboration with classroom teachers (including Pre-primary and Kindergarten) and support staff is highly regarded to ensure Science learning is accessible, inclusive, and linked across learning areas. Creativity and resourcefulness are key - the role suits someone who enjoys designing engaging lessons and projects within a budget that is aligned to Operational Planning and the school’s Strategic Plan.

We are looking for a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can build strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community. A collaborative approach, commitment to ongoing professional growth, and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school are highly regarded.
