The School

Lake Gwelup Primary School (PS) is a thriving Level 5 school of approximately 560 students, situated in the heart of a highly engaged and connected community. We are proud to be a school where students are known, valued and supported, staff work together with purpose, and families are genuine partners in the life and direction of the school.

Our school has been part of the Gwelup community since 1914, when Miss Ella Miller welcomed just 24 students through its doors. Today, the original schoolhouse remains at the front of our contemporary campus, providing an important connection between more than a century of history and a school that continues to evolve, innovate and look to the future.

Lake Gwelup PS is an exciting place to work. We have high expectations for teaching and learning and a strong commitment to evidence informed practice, consistency and continuous improvement. Collaboration is central to our approach, with staff supported through coaching, mentoring, professional learning and opportunities to lead. We value the expertise of our people and believe that great schools are built when staff learn with and from one another.

Our work extends well beyond academic achievement. We are committed to developing confident, resilient and independent learners who demonstrate respect, responsibility and genuine care for others. Student voice, wellbeing, inclusion and belonging are important features of our school, alongside rich opportunities across sport, the arts, technology, leadership and community engagement.

We are currently entering an exciting new chapter as we develop our 2026 to 2029 Business Plan and bring to life our vision for the Gwelup Graduate. This work is being shaped collaboratively with staff, students, families and our School Board and reflects our aspiration for every student to leave Lake Gwelup with the knowledge, character, confidence and capabilities to thrive beyond our school.

Our strong connection with families and the wider community is one of Lake Gwelup's greatest strengths. We actively seek community and student voice, build meaningful partnerships and continually look for new ways to strengthen the experience of our students.

For educators who value collaboration, professional growth, strong relationships and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a high performing school, Lake Gwelup PS offers an exciting and rewarding place to work.

The Role

Lake Gwelup PS is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, collaborative and creative Specialist Music Teacher to build upon a highly successful and much loved music program with a proud history within our school community.

Music is an important part of life at Lake Gwelup. Our students love to sing, perform and make music, and our program provides rich opportunities for students to develop their skills, confidence and creativity through classroom music, instrumental music, choirs, performances and community events. Music is highly visible across the school and plays an important role in bringing our students, families and community together.

The successful applicant would inherit a strong and established program and will be encouraged to build on these foundations, bringing their own expertise, creativity and ideas while respecting the traditions and opportunities that our students and community value. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can bring music to life and create the kind of experiences that students remember long after they leave primary school.

The successful applicant should display high quality teaching practice, strong curriculum knowledge and specialist music expertise, with the ability to engage and inspire students across a range of year levels. They should have high expectations for every student and be committed to providing purposeful, inclusive and engaging learning experiences that enable students with different interests, strengths and levels of musical experience to participate and succeed.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who will become an active and collaborative member of our school community. The successful applicant would work alongside colleagues, families and external partners to continue providing performances, celebrations and community events that showcase our students and maintain music as a vibrant and valued part of Lake Gwelup PS.
