Scaddan Primary School (PS), located 50km from Esperance in WA’s Goldfields Region, serves Kindergarten to Year 6 students from the farming communities of Scaddan, Grass Patch, Cascade and Salmon Gums. We are a close-knit, caring school that fosters strong relationships and a sense of belonging.

In 2027, our growing school will operate four multi-age classrooms: Early Childhood (Kindergarten and Pre-Primary), Junior (Years 1 and 2), Middle (Years 3 and 4) and Senior (Years 5 and 6). Smaller class sizes provide opportunities for responsive teaching, strong relationships and targeted support for individual students.

Our school is on a focused improvement journey, with a clear commitment to high-quality, evidence-informed teaching in every classroom. Staff work within a connected whole-school approach, with agreed instructional practices, consistent classroom routines, explicit teaching and regular assessment used to monitor student progress and inform next steps.

Our approach to literacy and numeracy draws on evidence-based programs and practices including structured synthetic phonics, explicit vocabulary and sentence-level instruction, Daily Review, fluency development, whole-school spelling and reading practices, DIBELS assessment and explicit mathematics instruction. A Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is used to identify and respond to students requiring additional intervention or extension.

Professional learning and collaboration are important parts of working at Scaddan PS. Staff engage in coaching, collaborative planning and professional learning focused on strengthening teaching practice. The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and effective Primary Teacher who will contribute positively to our collaborative school culture and commitment to improving outcomes for every student.

The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate strong classroom practice, with the ability to deliver high-quality, explicit teaching in literacy and numeracy. You should be able to establish a positive and inclusive learning environment, maintain high expectations and build strong relationships with students.

You will ideally use assessment and student data to inform planning, differentiate teaching and respond effectively to a range of learning needs. Experience working in a multi-age setting would be advantageous.

As part of our small school team, you will work collaboratively, implement agreed whole-school approaches and engage positively in professional learning, coaching and feedback. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build genuine relationships with colleagues, families and the wider school community will be highly valued.
