The Role

We invite you to join the inclusive and high-performing team at Sawyers Valley PS, where we foster a positive professional culture underpinned by high expectations for all. Our mission is to create an environment where students become independent learners who take responsibility for their lives and contribute positively to society. We value educators who adopt a strengths-based approach, build productive relationships with students, families, and the wider community, and demonstrate teamwork, reflective practice, a growth mindset, and a solutions-focused outlook.

Educators at Sawyers Valley PS provide innovative and engaging learning experiences and a broad culturally inclusive curriculum, based on the Western Australian Curriculum. Applicants should be able to make explicit links to the general capabilities of the Australian Curriculum, to promote confident and capable individuals, successful lifelong learners in literacies and STEM, and active and involved citizens. We aim to support the social, emotional, and academic growth of each student through targeted teaching, evidence-based practices, supportive learning environments and a strong pastoral care approach.

The successful applicant will ideally use evidence-based teaching practices, reflective use of student data, and differentiated instruction to maximise student engagement and achievement. Effective formative assessment, meaningful feedback, and high-impact teaching strategies are integral to our whole-school instructional approach to teaching and learning.

The successful applicant will ideally be committed to ongoing professional growth through coaching, observation, feedback, and collaboration with colleagues. A strong understanding of differentiation, assessment, and inclusive practices is highly regarded, along with the ability to contribute positively to collaborative teams and a culture of continuous improvement.

We are ideally seeking educators with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills who can foster strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Teachers in our Middle Childhood phase should be able to build on the play-based, experiential, and intentional teaching approaches established in the Early Childhood phase of the school.
