The Role

Eaton CC is seeking a passionate and experienced Literacy and Numeracy Specialist Teacher to support student success across Years 7 to 12. This role is essential in ensuring effective literacy and numeracy intervention programs and whole-school strategies that improve student outcomes.

The successful applicant will oversee small-group intervention programs for Year 7 and 8 students and coordinate OLNA support classes for students in Years 10 to 12. As part of the Centre for Literacy and Numeracy (CLAN) team, they will play a key role in supporting the implementation of the whole-school literacy and numeracy plans, ensuring programs are delivered effectively and data is recorded in alignment with college requirements.

A strong capacity to engage in collegiate planning with teachers and students is key, ensuring targeted literacy and numeracy support to improve student outcomes in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) and OLNA (Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment). The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate high-level interpersonal skills, fostering positive and effective working relationships with staff and students to embed literacy and numeracy strategies in the classroom.

A high level of data literacy and expertise in diagnostic testing and intervention programs is highly desirable, particularly in supporting students to achieve literacy and numeracy benchmarks. The successful applicant must also be able to guide curriculum development and teaching practices to meet the needs of individual students. This includes an understanding of diagnostic assessments and the ability to develop and implement appropriate Special Educational Needs (SEN) plans for students requiring additional support.

This position includes a 0.6FTE teaching component. Primary and secondary teachers with whole-school literacy and numeracy experience are encouraged to apply.
