The School

Are you ready to teach where your work truly matters?

Do you want to see visible impact in your classroom every week, working with a tight and supportive Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Primary team that values collaboration, clarity, and growth?

Do you believe that strong relationships, cultural understanding and community partnerships are central to student success?

Are you ready to accelerate your professional growth through purposeful coaching, targeted learning, and leadership opportunities aligned to our Business Plan and Teaching for Impact?

Could you see yourself enjoying the Pilbara lifestyle and genuine community connections while contributing to the next generation of strong, proud learners?

Roebourne District High School (DHS), situated in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, serves a dynamic and culturally rich community. Our school is deeply connected to the land and the local Aboriginal culture that has shaped this region for thousands of years. The school sits on Ngarluma Ngurra, the Country of the Ngarluma people, and many of our students come from the Ngarluma, Yindjibarndi and Banyjima language groups.

As a K-12 school, Roebourne DHS  provides a continuous and supportive educational journey for students from KindiLink through to Year 12. Our school is unique in its ability to offer students the chance to grow and develop in a familiar and culturally responsive environment throughout their entire schooling experience. This continuity enables us to build strong, lasting relationships with students and their families. We are able to deeply personalise the educational experiences for all of our students in our small school community.

The Role

We are seeking committed, reflective and skilled ECE and Primary Teachers to plan and deliver high-quality, culturally responsive learning programs aligned to the WA Curriculum. Suitable applicants will use explicit instruction, inquiry-based learning and formative assessment to ensure that every child is known, challenged and supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

You will work closely with Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs), education assistants, the Curriculum Coach, and specialist staff to create engaging, inclusive classrooms that connect learning to local culture, language, and place.

Ideal Applicants Will Be Able To

  • Know students well and plan responsive learning that reflects Country, Community and curriculum.
  • Use Teaching for Impact strategies - clear learning intentions, success criteria, differentiation, and regular checks for understanding.
  • Teach a balanced program that integrates explicit instruction, purposeful inquiry, literacy and numeracy foundations, and social-emotional learning.
  • Apply trauma-informed and co-regulatory practices, including Positive Behaviour Support and restorative approaches.
  • Track progress through valid assessment tools, monitor impact, and adjust teaching accordingly.
  • Work collaboratively within a team, contributing to planning, moderation and improvement cycles.
  • Build and sustain positive, strengths-based relationships with families through regular communication and involvement in classroom learning.
  • Display a strong commitment to developing cultural responsiveness and embedding Aboriginal language, perspectives and local knowledge in teaching practice.

We are looking for teachers with:

  • Experience with improvement in literacy, numeracy, and student engagement outcomes.
  • Experience teaching in regional or remote settings and with English as an Additional Language and/or Dialect (EALD) learners.
  • Familiarity with the Berry Street Education Model or similar trauma-informed frameworks.
  • Experience with MultiLit or comparable explicit literacy programs.

Why Join Us?

  • Supportive, collegial staff with shared purpose and clear direction.
  • Access to structured coaching, mentoring, and regional professional learning networks.
  • Opportunities for leadership development and innovation in teaching practice.
  • Subsidised housing and Pilbara employment incentives (where applicable).
  • A chance to live and work on Country in a community where education changes lives.
