We are seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Make your teaching matter at Southwell Primary School.

Southwell Primary School (PS), located in Hamilton Hill, is a small Kindergarten to Year 6 school serving a diverse community. Our size allows teachers to know their students well, work closely with colleagues and make a visible contribution to the life and direction of the school.

We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment where every child is known, supported and challenged to succeed. Aboriginal students form a significant part of our school community and strong relationships with students, families and community are central to our work. Positive behaviour is supported through a whole-school PBS approach that builds consistency, explicitly teaches expectations and acknowledges positive choices.

Southwell PS is a school where strong teachers can make a genuine difference. We recognise that successful learning begins with relationships, engagement and readiness to learn. Our Support Services Hub provides an additional layer of support, with an engagement officer, social worker and wellbeing officer working alongside teachers to strengthen connections with students and families.

The Role

We are seeking skilled, reflective teachers who combine high expectations with a strong understanding of the students they teach. Suitable applicants will ideally demonstrate effective curriculum planning, explicit and evidence-based teaching, differentiation and the capacity to use assessment to respond to student learning needs.

Strong relationship-building is essential. Applicants should be able to create calm, predictable and engaging classrooms and will ideally demonstrate culturally responsive and trauma-informed practice. We particularly value teachers who are curious about their impact, work collaboratively, contribute to whole-school approaches and believe that student background should never determine student potential.

For teachers seeking to grow their leadership, Southwell PS also offers genuine opportunities to contribute to and lead school improvement. Middle leadership opportunities may include coaching, targeted professional learning, professional networks and classroom release to support improvement work.

This is an opportunity for teachers who want their expertise to matter: to work closely with students and families, contribute to an evolving school improvement agenda and help build strong, sustainable practice across a small school community.
