The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally display their professional knowledge of:

• The Western Australian Curriculum, the Department of Education’s Teaching for Impact framework and high-impact teaching practices.
• Explicit, systematic and evidence-informed approaches to literacy and numeracy.
• The use of system and school assessment data to inform planning, differentiation, intervention and responsive teaching.
• Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), differentiation and planning for students with educational needs.

Applicants seeking Early Childhood Education positions should ideally also show contemporary early childhood practice and a strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Standard and developmentally appropriate, play-based learning. A strong emphasis on oral language development, explicit early literacy instruction and the ability to support students from English as Additional Language and or Dialect (EAL/D) backgrounds are desirable.

Professional Practice

Suitable applicants will ideally display their ability to:

• To plan and deliver clear, explicit and well-sequenced instruction using learning intentions, success criteria, modelling, guided practice and regular checks for understanding.
• To establish and maintain consistent classroom routines that maximise learning time and actively engage all students.
• To establish safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments aligned with whole-school behaviour and wellbeing approaches.
• To identify learning goals and implement appropriate adjustments for students with educational needs, EAL/D learners, students with disability and students requiring extension.
• To implement Ballajura Primary School’s agreed programs and practices, including Heggerty, Sounds-Write, Story Champs, Sound Waves, Top Ten Maths, Seven Steps and Text-Based Reading Units.

Professional Engagement and School Culture

Suitable applicants will ideally display:

• The ability to build respectful and productive relationships with students, colleagues, families and the wider school community.
