The Role
Hampton SHS is seeking to appoint a dedicated, experienced and enthusiastic pool of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teachers who ideally have excellent interpersonal skills. The suitable applicants will ideally be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. The suitable applicants would ideally have high standards of professionalism and should embrace opportunities for collaboration within the school community and network schools.
Applicants will ideally be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in team environments. The suitable applicants would have the professional knowledge, understandings, and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school HASS curriculum. Ideally equipped with a teaching background and experience across lower school HASS contexts and the ability to share knowledge and teaching experiences within senior school HASS courses (Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR) and/or General pathways), is highly desirable. Also desirable are HASS teachers with qualifications to deliver certificates such as Tourism, Community Service, Financial Services and Workplace skills. Additionally, Hampton will be commencing ECU’s Uni prep for the first time in 2027.
As a passionate HASS practitioner, you ideally have commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. Another key attribute we ideally are looking for is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and differentiate educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs as we have highly inclusive Learning Support and Specialised Learning Program - Autism Spectrum Disorder (SLP ASD) programs on site. You would hopefully model highly effective teaching, learning and assessment strategies. Hampton has an imbedded culture of professional growth and development, supported by mentoring and opportunities to lead.
Personally, the ideal applicants would hold strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. You are welcomed to build positive relationships with students to create successful pathways for all learners.
