We are seeking to establish a pool of Humanities and Social Sciences teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally possess the skills, knowledge and experience to teach ATAR Geography, Modern History, Economics, Politics and Law, as well as Year 7–10 Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) subjects. Suitable applicants will ideally have relevant curriculum knowledge and a strong understanding of effective teaching and learning practices, with a proven ability to achieve high levels of student outcomes across a range of abilities.

Suitable applicants should display a student-centred approach and culturally responsive practices that reflect and support the school community. They will ideally be team-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to the school’s teaching and learning model and school-wide processes.

Experience in teaching students with varying literacy levels, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and those with special needs is highly desirable. Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is also preferred but not essential.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
