The Role

Como SC is looking to appoint a highly competent and dedicated English teacher.

The successful applicant should have a deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning and exhibit highly effective teaching practices, as well as a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice. An excellent knowledge of the West Australian Curriculum and a capacity to deliver content in an engaging manner are also valued qualities. Experience in teaching English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) or Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) English or English Literature is desirable but not essential.

The successful applicant will ideally be able to display how they provide educational opportunities and activities for a range if student abilities. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of skills, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices will be considered favourably.

The successful applicant should have a growth mindset and be committed to the school’s Instructional Model, which is based on practices that have a strong evidence base for their effectiveness. Ideally all teachers will participate in the school’s Instructional Coaching program.

  • hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. More information about employment eligibility can be found on our website.
  • apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
