We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Aveley Secondary College (SC) opened in 2018 and is a large secondary school catering for students from Year 7 to 12 in Perth’s Swan Valley. The College is recognised as a school of choice, with high expectations and standards, a progressive approach and a commitment to excellence.

Our Education Support Program caters for more than 70 students with moderate to severe disabilities and is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people with complex needs. The Role

Aveley SC is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Education Support Teachers to join our collaborative and highly skilled Education Support team. Teachers appointed would work across a range of year levels and student needs, depending on the needs of the College.

Suitable applicants will ideally be committed to delivering high-quality, individualised teaching and learning programs that enable students with disability to achieve their full potential. They will ideally be motivated, compassionate, flexible and highly organised professionals, with a strong understanding of evidence-based pedagogical practices that support the diverse learning, communication and developmental needs of students with a disability.

The desired applicants will ideally be experienced Secondary Education Support teacher or Primary trained teachers with Education Support experience. Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities is desirable, particularly students with Intellectual Disability (ID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), physical disabilities, complex communication needs or complex behavioural needs.

It is highly desirable for applicants to have a strong background in the following:

• Trauma informed practice,
• Special Education Needs Reporting To Parents (SEN RTP),
• Abilities Based Learning Education (ABLEWA),
• Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN),
• Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children (TEACCH) practice,
• Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and
• Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).

We are seeking teachers who are ideally passionate about supporting students with disability to achieve their full potential. Suitable applicants should have highly effective classroom management practices that foster safe, caring, inclusive, and engaging learning environments where every learner is valued and supported. They should use assessment data to identify students' strengths, interests, progress, and areas for development, and use this information to develop, implement, and review individualised programs aligned with identified learning goals and outcomes.

Suitable applicants will ideally work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement targeted behaviour support strategies that promote positive and sustainable outcomes. They will ideally possess highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate leadership within the classroom by working closely with Education Assistants, providing clear direction, guidance, and support to ensure consistent approaches to student learning, engagement, and behaviour. A strong commitment to high expectations, reflective practice, continuous improvement, and achieving the best possible outcomes for every student is highly desirable.
