The School
Are you motivated by the opportunity to work in a great school?
Meadow Springs Meadow Springs Education Support Centre (ESC) caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who have an Intellectual Disability and/or Autism. Currently we have 97 students in our school from K-6. Based on current enrolments, 90% of our students have a primary diagnosis of Autism and 60% of our students have complex communication needs. The Education Support Centre has 10 classrooms that are integrated throughout the Meadow Springs school site. At Meadow Springs ESC our shared belief is that we are two schools but one School Community, to which all staff, students and parents belong.

The Role
At Meadow Springs ESC we believe that every student is unique! Learning should be purposeful, differentiated and provide every child with the support they need to engage positively in their learning program. We are a Positive Behaviour Support School (PBS) which means we focus on the positive and believe in explicitly teaching the behaviours (academic and social) that we expect from our students. Teachers are expected to work within a positive school’s framework to teach, shape and reinforce positive behaviours.
We are seeking Education Support Teachers who ideally take personal responsibility for their impact and model calm, regulated, and compassionate behaviour, especially in moments of challenge. They should understand that professional conduct is not defined by perfection, but by reflection and the ability to repair. These educators would engage regularly in feedback and coaching, viewing growth as a shared and ongoing endeavour.
Our staff are expected to possess a preparedness to collaborate with and support other colleagues in the development and implementation of the school’s curriculum. This may include ensuring access to the curriculum for all students, inclusive of their individual needs. Staff commitment to implementing whole-school curriculum policies and programs in English, Maths and Health & Wellbeing, would be highly regarded. At present, staff should support students in accessing and progressing through the Foundation Skills program, Top Ten maths, Promoting Literacy Development (PLD), Peggy Lego fine motor/pre-writing skills, utilising AAC supports such as PODD/visuals and differentiating programs such as SDERA and Protective Behaviours.
Each class has a team of education assistants that work with the teacher to support the learning needs of the students. Teachers should actively lead and support the staff in their team. This may include coordinating weekly meetings, providing training, and providing performance-based feedback (positive and constructive). The desire to invest in developing positive working relationships with students, parents and colleagues is a key focus for all staff at our school.
