The Role

We invite you to apply to join our inclusive school community. As a member of the Sawyers Valley PS team, you would become part of a positive and professional culture underpinned by high expectations for all. Our mission is to create and foster an environment where students become independent learners, empowered to take responsible control of their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.

We seek educators who ideally bring a strengths-based approach to their work and who prioritise building productive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the broader community. The personal qualities you will ideally bring to this role are highly valued, including a commitment to team before self, solution-focused problem-solving, a growth mindset, reflective practice, and a willingness to actively seek and respond to feedback.

At Sawyers Valley PS, educators should provide innovative and engaging learning experiences through a broad, culturally inclusive curriculum aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and its General Capabilities. Our aim is to develop confident and capable individuals, successful lifelong learners in literacy and STEM, and active, informed citizens. We support the social, emotional, and academic growth of every student through targeted teaching, evidence-based practices, supportive learning environments, and a strong pastoral care approach.

Teachers within our Early Childhood phase of learning are would ideally assist in promoting the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards, displaying a strong understanding of best practice in early childhood education. Establishing a positive and inclusive classroom environment, maintaining high expectations, fostering a growth mindset, and nurturing students' social and emotional development are central to this role. Educators should display the ability to effectively balance play-based, experiential, intentional, and explicit teaching approaches across Kindergarten to Year 2, responding to the developmental needs of young learners.

As a high-performing learning community, we are committed to evidence-based teaching and learning practices that prioritise the reflective use of data and embedded differentiation to support all learners. Teachers will ideally utilise high-impact teaching strategies, implement ongoing formative assessment, provide meaningful feedback, monitor student progress, and plan responsive next steps for learning. A strong understanding of differentiation is highly regarded, along with the ability to use a range of assessment tools to inform teaching and support the diverse needs of students. Equally important is a commitment to collaborative practice, continuous improvement, and contributing to a connected whole-school approach.

Suitable applicants should be committed to restorative and reflective teaching practices and actively participate in our culture of professional growth. This includes engaging in coaching opportunities, classroom observation and feedback processes, and ongoing professional learning to strengthen contemporary, evidence-based teaching practices. Guided by a shared belief that together we can make a difference for every student, teachers would work collaboratively within whole-school, phase of learning, and curriculum teams to develop and sustain a consistent but developmentally appropriate approach to teaching and learning.

We are seeking passionate educators who ideally possess exceptional interpersonal skills, who communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and foster genuine, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Together, we strive to create a learning environment where every child is known, valued, and supported to achieve success.
