Working across a complex health environment, the role drives the delivery of the NMHS Climate and Sustainability Program, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities, government policies, legislative requirements and industry best practice.

The Sustainability Manager partners with executive leaders, clinicians, operational teams and external stakeholders to embed sustainability into decision-making, service delivery, infrastructure planning and procurement practices. The role is responsible for leading sustainability programs, monitoring performance, managing reporting obligations and identifying opportunities to improve environmental outcomes, reduce emissions, optimise resource use and deliver long-term value.

The position plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of innovation and accountability, translating strategic objectives into measurable outcomes and ensuring NMHS remains at the forefront of sustainable healthcare. Through expert leadership, collaboration and evidence-based decision making, the Sustainability Manager contributes to enhanced organisational resilience, regulatory compliance and the achievement of NMHS's sustainability and strategic goals.

• Proven experience in developing, implementing and monitoring sustainability, climate or environmental programs and policies.
• Strong program and project management skills, within a complex operational environment.
• A high level of written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports, business cases, briefings and documents.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead, influence, engage with and maintain productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent conceptual, analytical, research and risk management skills, with the ability to provide strategic advice and identify evidence-based solutions to complex challenges.
