This is a Fixed Term Part Time appointment, at 0.8 FTE, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

October 2026 – March 2028 are the proposed contract dates, start date as soon as can be achieved.

• Current PET experience is essential.
• Paediatric experience is desirable; however, applicants with strong general Nuclear Medicine and current PET experience will be supported to transition to our paediatric setting.
• Standard days – hours are between 7:30-5pm, Monday to Friday with participation in the weekend on-call roster (5pm Friday to 7:30am Monday) and public holidays.

Position Profile: 

Perth Children’s Hospital & Neonatology (PCHN) are seeking an experienced Supervisor Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our Medical Imaging Department and play a key role in the establishment and expansion of a new Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography (PET/CT) service. (The Nuclear Medicine Department currently operates SPECT/CT only).

As Supervisor Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will provide advanced clinical and operational leadership across Nuclear Medicine and PET services, with a strong focus on service development, clinical governance and workforce capability. You will work alongside Nuclear Medicine Physicians and a multidisciplinary team to establish safe, efficient and high-quality PET pathways while supporting the ongoing delivery of Nuclear Medicine, PET and Bone Mineral Densitometry services.

You will play a key role in bringing the new PET service into operation, including developing clinical workflows, protocols, quality assurance processes, operational procedures and staff training.

Working in partnership with another P3 Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, you will be responsible for defined portfolios and contribute to a clear and effective job-share model, ensuring service continuity, consistency and high-quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating the day-to-day delivery of specialist Nuclear Medicine and PET services, ensuring safe, effective and patient-centred care.
• Performing routine and complex Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging, including operation of imaging and ancillary equipment, image processing and analysis.
• Working closely with Nuclear Medicine Physicians, the Radiation Safety Officer, clinical teams and internal and external stakeholders to support safe and effective service delivery.
• Monitoring the performance, quality control and maintenance of imaging equipment and liaising with service providers regarding faults, repairs and maintenance.
• Developing and reviewing policies, procedures and clinical protocols to support contemporary practice, accreditation requirements and legislative compliance.
• Leading quality improvement, research and service development activities to evaluate and improve service delivery.
• Supervising, supporting and developing Nuclear Medicine Technologists, students and other clinical staff.
• Participating in recruitment, workforce planning, orientation, training and professional development activities.
• Contributing to forward planning and the development of Nuclear Medicine services, equipment and clinical capabilities.
• Participating in the on-call service as required.

About the Team  

Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, Western Australia’s only acute tertiary paediatric centre, our dedicated Medical Imaging Team offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology services to children aged 0-16 years, including inpatients, outpatients, and the Emergency Department.

Our team provides a wide variety of imaging within the subspecialties of interventional radiology, paediatric cardiac catheterisations, general X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy.

We focus on achieving the highest quality imaging studies with a compassionate, child-friendly approach. Our department is equipped with highly specialised facilities and equipment designed to create a safe and comfortable environment for infants, children, and their families.

We support research projects and contribute to the advancement of procedures through partnerships with universities and paediatric specialist foundations.
