Our school is fortunate to receive strong support from the Newman community and local industry. This includes the Pilbara Education Partnership with BHP, the Follow the Dream program and partnerships with local businesses that provide workplace learning and school-based traineeship opportunities for our students.

The Role

Newman SHS is seeking a Student Support Officer to join our Student Services team. Based in Student Services, you will be the first point of support for students who come to the department, listening to their needs and connecting them with the right staff and services.

A key focus of the role is improving student attendance and engagement. Working with Student Services staff, you will help implement and monitor attendance strategies, follow up concerns with families and support students who are disengaged or at risk of disengagement.

Responsibilities include day-to-day administrative tasks, maintaining accurate and confidential student records, and supporting communication with families, staff and external services. We are looking for an approachable, organised person who builds positive relationships with young people and can respond calmly to their needs in a busy school environment.
