About the Role:
Are you a skilled mechanical technician looking for a rewarding opportunity to apply your technical expertise where it truly matters? Join the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) as a Senior Technician – Mechanical and play an important role in supporting the safe and reliable operation of medical equipment at Perth Children’s Hospital.
As part of the Medical Technology Management Unit (MTMU), you will undertake preventative maintenance, repairs, calibration, modifications, performance testing and safety testing of medical mechanical and electromechanical instrumentation and equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of neonates and children.
Working alongside a dedicated technical team, you will draw on your mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills to maintain equipment, manage maintenance records, monitor spare parts and provide technical advice to clinical staff. Your work will help ensure equipment performs safely and reliably, supporting clinical teams to deliver high-quality care to children and their families.
About You
You are a technically minded and proactive individual who takes pride in delivering quality work, solving mechanical problems and maintaining equipment to a high standard. You can work independently, manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with technical and clinical colleagues in a healthcare environment where reliability and safety are essential.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of an engineering trade certificate, such as toolmaking, a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience repairing and maintaining biomedical mechanical and electromechanical instrumentation and equipment.
- A sound understanding of mechanical principles, including mechanical systems, hydraulics, gears and pulleys.
- Good computer literacy, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
- Initiative, integrity and flexibility, with the ability to prioritise workloads and respond to operational requirements.
If you are ready to put your mechanical skills to work in a role that combines technical challenges with a meaningful purpose, we encourage you to apply. Join CAHS and become part of a team helping to support safe, reliable medical technology and better healthcare outcomes for children and their families.
