The PCHN Safety, Quality and Performance team is evolving, with a strong focus on supporting frontline care delivery, strengthening contemporary governance and service improvement, and embedding robust safety and quality systems across Perth Children’s Hospital and Neonatology (PCHN).

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety and Quality Coordinator to lead and coordinate safety, quality and clinical governance activities across PCHN with a particular focus on accreditation readiness, quality improvement, and safety and quality performance.

Reporting to the Director, Safety, Quality and Performance PCHN, you will work closely with clinical teams, directorates, senior leaders and governance committees to strengthen safety and quality systems and translate safety and quality data, governance requirements and service priorities into practical improvements.

You will partner with the CAHS Accreditation team, NSQHS Standards Committee’s leads and PCHN Directorates to support the service through ongoing accreditation readiness activities.  You will provide subject matter expertise and promote consistency across governance committees in identifying gaps and ensure evidence and improvement activities are appropriately monitored.

You will also lead the collection, analysis and reporting of clinical safety and quality data. You will monitor dashboards and key safety and quality indicators, identify emerging issues and work with stakeholders to understand performance and determine appropriate action. Where data identifies an opportunity for improvement, you will work with clinical teams and the Senior Quality Improvement Coordinator to connect initiatives with the PCHN QI Program where appropriate.

Key responsibilities include

• Leading and coordinating PCHN safety, quality and clinical governance programs and providing support to divisional safety and quality teams.
• Providing expert advice on clinical governance, safety, quality and performance measurement to support strategic decision-making.
• Coordinating safety and quality reporting requirements arising from CAHS and PCHN priorities.
• Working with the CAHS Business Intelligence Unit to develop and improve reporting formats and dashboards that support clinical governance and decision-making.
• Undertaking complex analysis of data and providing clear reports and briefings to senior leaders and governance committees.
• Supporting the development and implementation of clinical audit and outcome measurement activities, including clinician and patient-reported outcome measures.
• Developing and supporting education and capability-building in clinical governance, safety and quality data, audit and information systems.
• Contributing to the development of safety and quality frameworks, policies, resources and systems that strengthen clinical governance across PCHN.

About You

If you have considerable experience in a relevant health related role, together with experience applying contemporary clinical governance frameworks, national standards and accreditation requirements within a health service, and strong understanding of clinical safety, quality and risk management principles and practices, we encourage you to apply.
