About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Physiotherapist with clinical expertise in the assessment, treatment and evaluation of children and adolescents in Paediatric Critical Care /  High Dependency to join our multidisciplinary team and support children and young people with complex acute respiratory, medical and surgical conditions.

As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will provide advanced clinical practice and professional leadership while contributing to the ongoing development of high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy services within the Paediatric Critical Care / High Dependency setting.

You will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team where your expertise will contribute not only to individual patient care, but also to workforce capability, service improvement and the delivery of safe, high-quality paediatric healthcare.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prioritising and managing a complex clinical caseload, contributing to clinical reviews, case conferences and multidisciplinary care planning.
• Supporting children and families through education, discharge planning, referrals and transition to ongoing care.
• Providing specialist clinical advice and support to physiotherapists and other health professionals.
• Leading and participating in quality improvement, research and service development initiatives to improve outcomes and patient experience.
• Supervising, supporting and developing physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students, and contributing to the orientation and upskilling of physiotherapy staff across the service.
• Maintaining high standards of clinical documentation and contributing to effective clinical information systems.
• Participating in clinical shifts and, where required, after-hours, weekend and on-call rosters.

Paediatric experience and postgraduate qualifications in a relevant clinical area will be highly regarded but are not essential.

A tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy, eligibility for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, and a current driver's licence are essential for this role.

About our Physiotherapy Department

Located at Perth Children’s Hospital, we provide a statewide service to children aged 0-16, including inpatient and outpatient care, with transition support for those over 16. Through telehealth and partnerships with community services, we deliver rehabilitation closer to home for rural and regional outpatients.

Our multidisciplinary teams focus on prevention and rehabilitation, offering early intervention and evidence-based treatments for various conditions, including neurological, respiratory, musculoskeletal, oncology, and bladder and bowel issues. We aim to minimise the impact of medical conditions, enabling children to return home quickly and enhance wellbeing, independence, and participation in daily activities to improve children’s quality of life.

We invest in our team's skills and our quality improvement culture through a creative and robust education program. Our strong quality improvement culture is complemented by a dedicated Research Coordinator and Clinical Educator, supporting staff learning, research planning, and postgraduate studies.
