About Legal Services

The Legal Services team provides high level legal and policy advice to the relevant Ministers, Director General, Managing Director and the senior executive team of Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS), to mitigate legal and reputational risk to the State while driving the State’s projects and objectives.

About the role

We are seeking talented Senior Lawyers and Lawyers to join our legal team and provide trusted advice across a diverse range of commercial, procurement, contract management and corporate matters.

As a Senior Lawyer, you will take the lead on routine through to highly complex legal matters, drafting and negotiating contracts, supporting commercial transactions, identifying and managing legal risk, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, government policies and frameworks. You will also play an important role in providing operational guidance, supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, and contributing to the capability of the broader legal team.

As a Lawyer, you will work across routine to moderately complex legal matters, providing practical advice and supporting the Department’s commercial, procurement, contract management and corporate activities. You will draft and negotiate contracts, support commercial transactions, assist with identifying and managing legal risks, and undertake legal research. You will also work closely with senior lawyers, gaining valuable exposure to more complex matters and opportunities to develop your legal expertise.

About you

We are looking for lawyers who are practical, collaborative and solutions-focused, with strong communication and legal drafting skills. You will be comfortable working with stakeholders, managing competing priorities and applying sound legal judgement to achieve outcomes that support the Department’s objectives.
