Vacancy Reference No. 750784

This is a Fixed Term Part Time appointment for twelve (12) months at 45.60 hours (0.6FTE) per fortnight with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

About Our Team:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

Pathways is a state-wide, specialised program that works with children aged 12 and under with complex and long-term mental health difficulties.

We are a family focused program that aims to offer a flexible and adaptable service to best suit the needs of the child. This can include education, social, behavioural, emotional, and mental health difficulties. As each child and family is different, each admission is also different and may include assessment, the recovery day program and or outreach-based treatment approach.

About the Role:

As a Senior Exercise Physiologist with Pathways, you will deliver high‑quality Exercise Physiology services to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide advanced‑level assessment, intervention, and care coordination to support comprehensive clinical management, therapeutic engagement, and discharge planning.

Some of your key accountabilities will include:

  • Delivering advanced Exercise Physiology assessment, intervention, and evaluation for complex and general child and adolescent mental health caseloads within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating specialist Exercise Physiology services within Pathways.
  • Actively participating in multidisciplinary clinical team meetings, clinical reviews, and case conferences to inform care, intervention, and discharge planning.
  • Liaising with consumers, carers, health professionals, and community agencies to support continuity of care and optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Providing specialist consultation and advice on Exercise Physiology practice to staff across the CAMHS sector and to external government and non‑government agencies.
  • Contributing to service development through program planning, implementation, evaluation, and inter‑agency collaboration.
  • Participating in applied clinical research and service evaluation activities as appropriate.
  • Supervising and instructing Exercise Physiology students within approved clinical teaching programs.
  • Maintaining advanced professional knowledge and skills and participating in ongoing supervision and professional development.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation, databases, and statistical data in accordance with organisational requirements.
  • Contributing to the development and review of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines relating to Exercise Physiology services in child and adolescent mental health.

Your role will align with the WA Health Code of Conduct and CAHS’ vision and values, demonstrating a strong commitment to governance, integrity, safety, and quality in healthcare delivery. You will maintain eligibility and accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), ensuring care is delivered to contemporary advanced practice standards.

CAHS values: To achieve our vision of healthy kids, healthy communities, CAHS is committed to providing a workplace culture that is driven and shaped by our values of Compassion, Collaboration, Equity, Respect, Excellence and Accountability. During the selection process you may be assessed on your ability to fulfil the responsibilities of this position in accordance with the values.
