The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) is seeking a highly capable Senior Data and Intelligence Analyst to support evidence-informed election planning, readiness and delivery across Western Australia.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Director Planning and Readiness, the Senior Data and Intelligence Analyst plays a pivotal role in strengthening election planning, readiness and delivery through the provision of high-quality electoral intelligence, data analysis and reporting.

This role leads the development of meaningful insights from electoral, demographic, geographic and operational data to support strategic and operational decision-making across the Commission. Working closely with senior leaders and operational teams, you will deliver sophisticated reporting, dashboards and analytical products that enhance visibility of election readiness, performance and outcomes.

You will drive continuous improvement in business intelligence, data governance and reporting practices, while translating complex information into clear, actionable advice for decision-makers. The role also provides leadership and guidance to a Data and Documentation Analyst and contributes to building a strong culture of evidence-informed planning, innovation and continuous improvement across the organisation. Finally, you will play a key role in supporting election planning, delivery and post-election evaluation, helping to safeguard trust in democracy through informed and effective decision-making.

About You

You are a curious, solutions-focused analyst who thrives on turning complex data into meaningful insights. With strong experience in data analytics, reporting and business intelligence, you can confidently translate information into clear, actionable advice for a range of audiences.
You bring advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, excel at working with large and complex datasets, and build strong relationships across teams to influence outcomes. Experience with Power BI is essential, while experience with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS will be highly regarded.

To be eligible for a permanent appointment to a position with the WAEC, it is essential that you have valid work rights in Australia.
