The role
Our Strategic Communications Division delivers effective, high-quality and consistent media, public relations,
communications and marketing outcomes. It supports the Executive, portfolio Ministers, the delivery of the Government's priority areas and the enhancement of the LGIRS image and reputation as a world class regulator.
As a Senior Communications Officer, you will develop and implement media strategies as part of the broader communications objectives of the department, including editing and preparing ministerial speeches, media statements, departmental publications, advertising content and website content and liaising with media.
This may involve coordinating Ministerial and Parliamentary liaison functions requests, undertaking planning, developing strategies and managing communication between the department and the media, providing advice about portfolio media and communications opportunities, assisting in the preparation, production and distribution of publications and promotional material, and other key tasks.
This is a varied and role working with a diverse client base.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department and across the WA public sector for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.
To be employed with LGIRS, you must meet the pre-employment requirements of the position and provide consent to undertake relevant pre-employment screening, which may include a Conflict of Interest Declaration, medical assessment, psychometric assessment, Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and/or other relevant checks and clearances.

- Demonstrated excellent written skills including high level speech writing, editing, preparation of editorial content and website content, and development of media statements.
- Experience in high level stakeholder management, in particular, effective relationships with Ministerial office and the media.
- Extensive experience in planning, developing and implementing media strategies and broader communications plans.
