Lead and work within a statewide paediatric cochlear implant program for children and families across Western Australia.

We currently have a Permanent Part Time (0.6 FTE) position available.

About the Role

Perth Children’s Hospital & Neonatology (PCHN) is seeking a Senior Audiologist to join our Audiology Outpatient service. This is a unique opportunity to work within the multidisciplinary Children’s Hearing Implant Program (CHIP).

You will provide expert, independent clinical assessment and management for infants, children and young people with cochlear implants and complex hearing needs. This role is suited to an experienced paediatric cochlear implant audiologist with a minimum of two years' tertiary paediatric audiology experience who can work autonomously, make independent clinical decisions, and manage complex cases without direct supervision.

Working collaboratively with the Children's Hearing Implant Program (CHIP), ENT Department and multidisciplinary team, you will deliver advanced audiological care across the cochlear implant journey, including candidacy assessment, device programming, ongoing management, troubleshooting, outcome monitoring and family-centred support. You will contribute to service development, quality improvement, research and evaluation activities, ensuring practice remains aligned with national and international standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert, independent assessment and management of paediatric cochlear implant recipients and children with complex hearing loss, including diagnostic evaluation, device programming, verification, validation and rehabilitation planning.
  • Managing a clinical caseload autonomously, exercising advanced clinical judgement to identify, investigate and resolve complex audiological and cochlear implant-related issues without routine supervision.
  • Coordinating care across the multidisciplinary team, including ENT surgeons, speech pathologists, teachers of the deaf, psychologists, allied health professionals and community service providers.
  • Providing specialist advice, consultation and education to audiologists, medical staff, multidisciplinary teams, families and carers regarding cochlear implant management and paediatric hearing care.
  • Participating in cochlear implant candidacy assessments and supporting clinical decision-making regarding technology options and intervention pathways.
  • Leading and contributing to service development, quality improvement, research, innovation and clinical governance activities in collaboration with the Audiology Head of Department and CHIP leadership team.
  • Supporting workforce capability through mentoring, supervision, education and professional development of junior audiology staff and students.
  • Contributing to service efficiency, pathway optimisation and outcome evaluation to ensure children and families receive timely, evidence-based care.

If you are an experienced audiologist with strong multidisciplinary collaboration skills, advanced clinical decision-making capability and a commitment to research-informed practice, we encourage you to apply.
